An Artificial Intelligence system has cracked a code that humans have been unable to crack for 4,000 years. According to the article, some linguists had given up and thought the symbols were just "pretty pictures". I wonder how long until AI discovers that it’s smarter than us.

For the first time in human history, a robot has discovered a scientific fact on its own that humans did not already know. From the article. “The robot, called Adam, is the first machine to have independently ‘discovered new scientific knowledge’.”

I wonder how often these discoveries will be made now…

Snakes can slither through tight spaces, swim across lakes, scale trees, and even glide through the air. Their mechanical doubles won’t be flying anytime soon, but thanks to technological leaps in climbing ability, snakebots could soon tackle a few notoriously dangerous jobs. Virginia Tech University engineers Dennis Hong and Gabriel Goldman say their robots, called Hydras, which can quickly roll up and down poles and columns, are designed to inspect bridges, construction sites and high-rise buildings, tasks that injure more than 1,000 people a year.

CNET has an article detailing how "colonies of borg-like cyberrobots … will help government agencies detect and fend off attacks on the nation’s computer network infrastructure." So if I read this correctly, they’re trying to have robots defend the critical infrastructure of the country. Ahhhh, another nail in the coffin my friends.
