Killer Robots

The “Little Dog” robot, smaller cousin to “Big Dog”, has been upgraded to be able to navigate all sorts of terrain. The scientists responsible for this travesty have included a two-minute video that should have you cowering in fear. Enjoy it.

A group of German researchers thought it would be a good idea to arm robots with knives, teach them to stab and slice up humans, and then see what happens. If “knives and stabbing weapons” sounds familiar, that’s because it’s exactly what the killer robot from Terminator 2: Judgement Day had.

According this post on Engadget, the US Air Force says robots that decide whether to kill people or not will be here by 2047. I guess I should start making a list of things to do before 2047…

The US DoD continues down the path of recreating the Terminator plot line, but in real life. Can someone get them a Netflix account?

Called the “Ember,” the robot runs on reversible treads and has two flippers on one end to get it over obstacles and right itself. It’s got a tiny camera mounted on one side, and an antenna mount. It’s even got its own Facebook photo album.

It’s small, it’s sturdy and someday every soldier may have one.

It’s been made under a Pentagon contract to develop “LANdroids,” small, automatically networking communications and surveillance robots.

Yeah! Networked robots!
Yeah! LANdroids!
Right, keep telling yourself that this won’t go horribly awry.
