According this post on Engadget, the US Air Force says robots that decide whether to kill people or not will be here by 2047. I guess I should start making a list of things to do before 2047…

According to Reuters columnist Bernd Debusmann, "military robots and their rapidly increasing numbers" and at a conference this Month, Brookings scholar Peter Singer said "Science fiction is moving to the battlefield. The future is upon us."

Borg-like cybots may patrol government networks

CNET has an article detailing how "colonies of borg-like cyberrobots … will help government agencies detect and fend off attacks on the nation’s computer network infrastructure." So if I read this correctly, they’re trying to have robots defend the critical infrastructure of the country. Ahhhh, another nail in the coffin my friends.

Scientists are working to create "Autonomous Battlefield Robots". Another way to say that is "killer robots that don't take orders from humans". Fabulous.

This is straight out of RoboTech. Add some cool guns and armor and you'll get an idea of what our new robot overlords will look like. Note the remark at the end of the video about these things eventually being "autonomous". Great.
