Killer Robots

Apparently someone has written a book about ethical behavior of killer robots. Well a fat lot of good this book is going to do when you’re getting your ass handed to you by a mechanized killing machine. Smart people drive me insane sometimes.

Researches at MIT’s Media Lab are building a game that develops its own AI by watching human behavior. I swear I feel like I’m watching an episode of “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”.

I think that the article speaks for itself here…. And I quote:

"The first home in the UK which can learn from its residents and take decisive action and text if it is being burgled or the door has been left unlocked, will be unveiled this week in Cairo."

I think the title says it all folks… Sit down and watch in horror.

I found out about Gwap today, who’s slogan reads "When you play a game at Gwap, you aren’t just having fun. You’re helping the world become a better place.". Sounds lovely doesn’t it? The only problem is that when you play a game at Gwap, you’re actually training computers how to learn… Seriously.

Time to buy more guns.

Scientists will be unveiling ground-breaking new software this month that will undoubtedly bring us one step closer to the annihilation of humans by robots. I will quote the article directly for the particularly scary parts. "The new system, Wolfram Alpha, showcased at Harvard University in the US last week, takes the first step towards what many consider to be the internet’s Holy Grail – a global store of information that understands and responds to ordinary language in the same way a person does." Yep, you heard that right. A computer system that is not only a "global store" of information, but that it behaves like a human. Way to go, dip-shits. Didn’t you see The Terminator?

AIGameDev has an article about the 18 most embarassing AI errors in games. This all seems fine until you realize that what we’re helping the robots defend themselves against human thought. Way to go AI developers!

Another piece of the puzzle comes together as a bunch of scientists in Switzerland invented robots that "lie" to each other to get food. Seriously, why not just give them the planet now and save us the trouble…

An Artificial Intelligence system has cracked a code that humans have been unable to crack for 4,000 years. According to the article, some linguists had given up and thought the symbols were just "pretty pictures". I wonder how long until AI discovers that it’s smarter than us.

Scientists in Japan have invented a self-aware baby robot seal that reacts to human voice and touch. They insist it helps “heal” the elderly. I’m convinced this is a recon team.
